Newbery Heights History

 

The Newbery Heights Neighborhood is named after the John Newbery Award, which is awarded annually to the most distinguished contribution to children's literature.  For more information on the Newbery Award, visit www.ala.org/alsc/newbery.html .

 

Each of the streets in the Newbery Heights neighborhood is named after a recipient of the Newbery Award.  The following are the recipients that have a street in the neighborhood named after them, the name of their book, and the year they won the Newbery Award.
